I was wondering because I have A court date for a driving after suspension ticket. Will they issue a warrant if I dont go? Will the warrant be valid in Wis. where I live? I am facing jail time if I go to court. I was just wondering what would happen if I just didnt show up. Could I just "stay out of Ill. and not worry?
Is anyone familiar with ILL. traffic laws?
They will issue a bench warrant for you not appearing in court. If you lived in WI at the time of the incident, or if they have your WI address for any reason, they will contact the local court in WI and try to get the bench warrant served on you.
If they can't find you, you will be safe for a while, but there is always the chance you will get stopped one day and that bench warrant will be in the national database and then you will go to jail.
I wouldn't press my luck if I were you.
