Anyone familiar with Love and Logic? Need idea for what to do now?!?

I have a usually sweet 4 year old, who just within the last 2 days has become a little monster. Yesterday he didn't listen when I asked him to come back so I made him sit beside me while we were waiting at a restaurant instead of playing w/his brother. His dad went inside to check on how much longer our wait was when he decided he wanted to go. Since he hadn't listened earlier I told him he needed to sit w/me. He flipped out so I picked him up to take him to the car and he began kicking and pushing on my face!!! I got him to the car and could barely get him into his carseat. Needless to say, we left the restaurant (humiliated)! Today is more of the same. I took EVERYTHING out of his room...train, train table, toy box w/all his toys, etc. and now am not sure what else to do. Usually he behaves irratically when he's not had a nap, but he took a long nap yesterday and slept well overnight. I'm at a loss as to what consequence would come next. HELP! I'm getting frazzled!!

Maybe he doesn't feel good and he doesn't know how to tell you, sometimes children act strangely when they cannot communicate the real problem, perhaps he is testing you. but you need to find a way to reinforce the positive behaviors, so like the other person said, take away one toy, when he stops the tantrum immediately give it to him, and explain the situation. it's hard to say b/c it has been such a short time, try to keep track of what makes him start these behaviors.
Reply:taking everything from his room is probably not the best way to go, his behaviour will only worsen now because he has nothing to stimulate himself or anyways to release his energy.

you could now start doing time outs and these can be applied at restaurants etc.

With taking away of toys you need to take away his one favourite toy and explain why and tell him he cannot have it back for however long you decide is enough.

definatley try time out next and make sure you stick with it dont give in, be firm and calm. Goodluck if you would like any help with any techniques just drop me an email x
