I have a recurring dream that I am in a familiar neighborhood and?

then I walk too far in one direction, or drive and make a wrong turn and end up in a strange place. The neighborhood is wide open with tall and apartment like brick buildings. I see few people but the ones I see stare at me and come toward me like I am an intruder. The people have strange faces... kinda like the ones I saw on an episode of the Twilight Zone years ago. They dress like farmers. Bib overalls and such. The women wear old timey dresses. They have a distinct odor too. They stink. They never speak but I KNOW they are trying to get me. I run, or try to leave the area but I usually find them at every turn. Chasing me. I literally have to make myself wake up to keep from stroking out! It is very scary. I can't get away.


I have this dream on occasion. I'll say at least 3 times this year so far. I can tell it's coming too. I have a feeling of impending doom right before it comes. I keep a dream journal but I'm scared to write about this dream. I am always alone.

Your subconscious is using "a familiar neighborhood" to represent the totality of "the world as you know it," you are most likely at a time in your life where you are moving into new areas of thought or independance and your dream represents a fear of the unknown...





The media (news, shows, popular "culture,") show the "bad" side of life exclusively, and as a result many people become paranoid of the unfamilliar.





You must realize that the only "truth" is derived from direct experience, the boogeymen of the unknown are shadows only, and if you don't have the guts to walk outside of your "familliar neighborhood," then you will always cling to the past, and never learn to grow outside of the walls you have built around yourself.
Reply:I think it means that you feel safe in your areas that you are familiar with..you are scared to go out of your comfort zone as there might be strong people that you have never known,,these people chase you as they don;t want you to get comfortable in their area;s where they hang out...your scared to meet new people or try to go to new places as you don;t know what you might find,,,,,good luck always ,,.,
