Why (Koothadigal) cinema actors are coming again and agian in the politcal spectrum in Tamilnadu?

Showing their faces in the cinema makes them familiar with the people. Is this the reason?

Without any programmes and idealogy how they succeed in politics?

Why (Koothadigal) cinema actors are coming again and agian in the politcal spectrum in Tamilnadu?
Tamil nadu has become one of the backward states of India by rule of cinema actors.. Since Brahmin's have been pushed out of the state, there no one to think for the future.

While other states are gaining Tamil nadu is loosing. If you observe keenly Most of the crucial posts in central government and allied organisations are held by Keralites.

Tamilian has no role in national level
Reply:Sorry. The question is biased ,to put it in mildest terms. Also certain responses are not in good taste.

Cinema is one of the walks of life. Persons from cine field coming to political arena is in all parts of the world .Governor from USA,Chief minister from Andhra, party chief from telungana, some of the popular MPs from Maharashtra,UP and other Indian states are actors.

Reverting back to Tamilnadu, there are three on whom the question centers around 1)M.G.Ramachandran 2) Karunanithi and 3)Jayalalitha .

ALL THE THREE AND THEIR POLITICAL GURU ANNADURAI BECAME CHIEF MINISTERS NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE "kooththadigal", but due to their

political participation over a long duration.

Anna is the founder of DMK.His party decided to contest elections.People voted him to power, not because he is a

kotthadi but he gave the conceousness of self- respect in the minds of the masses, stopped Hindi from entering into the door steps of every non Hindi speaking States, stopped diversion of fund movements to Hindi States and many more.

MGR was the Treasures of that party for decades.Karunanithi

was next to Anna in the partyfrom the day the party was started.Jayalalitha was ,MGR party's probaganda Secretary.

If everyone became chief ministers ,it was based on their contributions to party and politics. They came to power with popular support.

In the past and presenet Tamilnadu was always choosy in selecting cine artists to power.Best actors or their parties were rejected without mercy like Sivaji Ganesan,Karthik,VenniraAadai Nirmala and many more.

Some have also commented on Tamilnadu common man's

political immaturity ,rejections of Brahmins and parochialism and fancy towards cinema. And based on which Tamilnadu has gone from bad to worse.

No.People of Tamilnadu are politically forward thinking and broad minded. They have accepted a Keralite Nayar who married a Tamil Brahmin lady-MGR, and a Karnataka based Kumbakonam born Brahmin lady Jayalalitha as their Chief ministers. Will it happen any where in India or outside!

Also they had never to repent . Tamilnadu is in fore front in many fields. It is today the leader among states in educational, economical and social welfare fields.

WE are proud in our action of electing those kootthadies to

power. The programs and policies of the parties they belonged and the support they gained from masses put Tamilnadu in good steads.Let it be an eye opener to other trailing States !!!
Reply:It reveals the inherent low standard of political consciousness of tamils.
Reply:In Tamil Nadu the cinema is built up with a story in which usually the hero is saviour of the needy people and is against all problems which degrade a society. The people easily get trapped in such illusions and believe that in real life too he would be the same and are never able to come out of it. The actors are to be appreciated to having successfully proving their acting talents in real life too and in gaining political powers.

1. We cannot say that the actors cannot come to politics as we are living in a democratic country, but it is only the people who elect them who are to be blamed. This is one view.

2. In another view, just imagine the lifestyle people lead in Tamil Nadu. Beginning from the educational system ( which is aimed not in improving the thinking abilities but just memorizing (elimination of Entrance exam which requires some thinking abilities) and not allowing children to think on their own) to the way one succeeds in life, people think that such a person who is a saviour in cinemas may help them out in real life too and want to give them a chance to check out their luck of improving themselves.

But, I do not think that people in Tamil Nadu are not the only one who are to be blamed. Even in North India, the actors and actresses are leading a successful political life, Hema Malini, Jeya Pradha, Govinda, are a few to be named. I think that their familiarity is one important feature which helps them gain easy accessibility to the people. But they make good efforts by spending their own money to get them "stamped" (in election poll), thereby getting a good profit for their investment in the form of a "respectable position" in politics. In fact, the actors all over India think that politics is a new business for their ability to act and they are doing it perfectly.
Reply:Tamilnadu people are mad about cinema and cricket. They treat actors and cricketers as gods/idols. So, these actors utilise the weakness of the public to enter into politics to spread their domain and for everlasting power and money.
Reply:You have asked a very valid question most appropriate to the situation now prevailing in Tamilnadu. It was one of the best-administered Indian States till middle sixties. Regional and caste chauvinism then set in and those who harped on it reined the Government. Inter-party rivalry then saw the emergence of a popular Cinema Actor who excelled in public relation defeating a known film scriptwriter. Then it was the turn of an Actress after the death of the Screen Hero. During the last four decades cinema personnel are alternatively sharing power in Tamilnadu. The policy of majority appeasement of the Caste and the minority appeasement in religion ensured that no efficient leader could even show his face in politics. Coming to the last part of your question, could you show any Government including the Central one in India succeeded with people oriented programmes following a sound social and political ideology? My conclusion is that India and particularly Tamilnadu has become the corrupts’ den being run by men of ineptitude with no character!
